Water for Sudan Welcomes a New Partner

Water for Sudan, Inc., is pleased to announce that Rotary District 5340 in San Diego, CA has become a new partner in our mission to provide safe, clean water in southern Sudan. Rotary members Don Meredith and Burl Jordan were elected to the Board of Directors of Water for Sudan on September 27, 2007. San Diego Rotary joins Rotary District 7120 in Rochester, NY, in their strong and vital support of Water for Sudan.

The addition of this Rotary partner will make possible the establishment of a second drilling team in the field, led by Dep Tuany. A second drilling rig is on order, with the hope that Dep and his team can be drilling by April, 2008.

Welcome, Rotary District 5340!

September 2007 Newsletter

We are pleased to report that Water for Sudan enjoyed an extremely productive 2007 drilling season.

Salva Dut traveled to Africa in late December, 2006 and was immediately faced with the challenge of buying the additional equipment we needed to drill more wells more efficiently and more quickly. This process took nearly two months to complete.

Salva and his team finally went into Sudan in mid-March and from that point to the end of May drilled 10 wells, an average of about one per week. These wells were dedicated to: the Curme family, Sherry Kost, Allens Creek Elementary School, Penfield High School/Cobbles Elementary School, the Klein family, Susan Brunson, the Penfield Rotary Club, Downtown United Presbyterian Church, the Marshall family and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. A very warm "thank you" to these and indeed to all of our generous donors!

Water for Sudan has now drilled a total of 17 wells to date. We believe that we are now serving more than 50,000 people with clean, safe drinking water. We believe that water is an important foundation on which a community can become stable. With a reliable source of clean drinking water nearby, the community can now build schools and medical clinics. This is very exciting!

Now that all of the equipment is in place, and given continued funding for supplies, we believe that we can drill nearly two wells per week. Our goal for the 2008 drilling season is 30 - 40 wells! Southern Sudan continues to need many thousands of wells, so our efforts, and your generosity, will continue to be welcomed by the people of this strife-tom country.

Salva is excited to go back to Sudan this next season and drill!

Your continued support of this very worthwhile project is most appreciated. Donations are welcome at the address listed below.

Thank you very much, and God bless.

Sincerely,

Salva Dut and Christopher Moore
